Buying a new home can be a great pleasure for most buyers because no one has lived in this home. It's fun to pick out the interior decor and make the house 'yours.' Choosing a reputable builder can be daunting. Whether you are in the 100K range or 10 million range, you still need someone to guide you to the best builder for the type of home you want. We all read about the movie star who was hurt by the builder who was building her multi-millon dollar home here. Realtors sell these homes and have a pretty good idea who to avoid. Ask your Reator for a list of reputable builders and you will most likey get 3 or 4 to interview. Look at homes that they have built and see if they meet your standards. Some builders build spec homes for you to choose from. Others only build custom homes and do not keep an inventory, but they can still take you through some of their homes. When buying a builder's spec home, you need an extra set of eyes to look over the contract and help you understand what you are signing. It does not cost you more to be represented, and the builder cannot give you the Realtor's fees off the price of the home.
