Lake Austin is one of seven Highland Lakes that were formed when the Lower Colorado River Authority built a series of dams along the Colorado River in the early 1940′s. Lake Austin is the part of the river from Mansfield Dam on RR 620 and the Tom Miller Dam near the low water crossing on Lake Austin Boulevard. It is located a little west of downtown Austin and is known for some of the finest real estate in Austin. The homes along the river are priced well into the millions of dollars. Some sit high on cliffs overlooking the river and others are built near the water.
What I Like About Lake Austin Waterfront
Lake Austin is a great place for any kind of watersport. It is stocked with fish regularly so it is also a great place to relax and fish to your heart’s content. Lake Austin Spa and Resort on the Lake is the place to go and be pampered and lose a few pounds. There are several parks dotting the river for day fun and also camping. But, one of my favorite things to do on the water is to ride in the boat and look at the beautiful homes along the way.
